Vitamin C Deficiency May Cause Scurvy

Posted by: Dr. Sloan, Md.  :  Category: Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a requisite part of any antioxidant program. If you don’t get any vitamin C, you’ll come down with scurvy, which causes weakness, anemia, spongy gums and bleeding from the mucous membranes, formation of liver spots on the skin, which are most abundant on the thighs and legs, and a person with the ailment looks pale, feels depressed and is partially immobilized. In advanced scurvy, there are open suppurating wounds, loss of teeth and eventually, death. The human body can store only a certain amount of Vitamin C, and so the body soon depletes itself if fresh supplies are not consumed.
