Febrile fits, also known as febrile convulsions or febrile seizures frequently occur in young children. This condition is triggered by high fever, and the bodies of the toddlers which have not fully developed, are unable to handle the rising body temperatures.
When such incidences happen, it is important to take precautions so that the child is not hurt in the event, and ensure that the child is taken to a doctor for medical attention immediately after. Do not try to drag the child out the front door and into the car while he or she is having a fit, as that action itself might cause more harm to the child. Though the seizure itself may be harmless, but ensure that there are no sharp objects surrounding the child, as the child shakes uncontrollably.
